Sonila Meçaj completed her studies and graduated in 2000 in Clinical Psychology at the
Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tirana. A few years later, the European
Association for Psychotherapy certified her in Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic Modality. She
is also qualified as a group analyst by the Institute of Group Analysis in London, UK.
Her professional career started in 2001 as a clinical psychologist in the Primary Health Care
service, at the Mental Health Community Center (CMHC No.2) in Tirana. Her professional
development has continued in the Mental health field working, in the framework of various
WHO projects in Albania, for the development of mental health services in Albania. She has
been engaged as a trainer in several trainings for health and mental health professionals.
Sonila has also worked as an external lecturer at the Department of Psychology and Social
Work (FSHS) where her contribution has been mainly in the subject of Psychotherapy.

Since 2004 she has been working in the private practice as a psychotherapist mostly with
youngsters and adults at the Psychotherapy Center “Analitica” in Tirana. From 2021 she has
been running her therapeutic group too. She also has experience in individual and group
supervision for mental health and psychosocial services professionals.
She is a member of the Group Analysis Organization in Albania and Group Analytic Society
International. She is a founding member of the Albanian Association for Psychotherapy.
